The Pancreas

The pancreas can get very complicated as it can create serious conditions that I am not in a position to deal with. However, remember that the pancreas controls our sugars and if you are finding yourself craving sugars or carbohydrates more than you should, there are some things you can do to help with this condition. Balancing a proper diet is the most important way to heal this body part.

The foods to avoid to heal the Pancreas
Eliminate white refined sugars and honey from your diet. Instead replace with the good sugars...switch to more complex sugars including pure maple syrup, barley malt, rice malt, molasses, sucanat, organic pure cane juice crystals or stevia. Your pancreas will thank you. Decrease carbohydrates to one or two per day and increase proteins like beans, nuts & seeds as well as chicken, turkey or fish. Protein in the form of goat or sheep milk products such as cheeses, yogurts or milks is very good for this body type. Limit your fruit intake to two per day, preferably once in the morning and once at night. Eat lots and lots of fresh vegetables. This is essential to feeling full and not feeling as though your are missing something in life. Use only high quality oils such as Extra Virgin Olive Oil. If you have a hard time gaining weight, using a protein drink with soy milk or goat milk can also help.

Herbs & supplements that are beneficial to the Pancreas
Chromium seems to be the product of choice for the pancreas. You can also find sugar craver's formulas that seem to work very well for many people who have uncontrollable cravings for sugars and carbohydrates.

Physical Symptoms of Pancreas Imbalance
Besides sugar cravings, those with a pancreas imbalance also may crave carbohydrates. Sugar imbalances can create two different body types… one that stores and becomes obese; another that is tall and lanky looking, and finds it hard to put weight on.

Negative emotions that aggravate the Pancreas
The pancreas is affected by the same emotions as the bladder and kidneys, namely disappointments, which is why one will affect the other. More specifically, this body part holds the emotion of disappointment with other's choices. The lesson comes from learning to accept with no expectations. This is one of our hardest lessons in life. But when you learn to balance this energy from disappointment to acceptance, you will find that everything that you do get in life will be given as a gift. That which we receive that has not expectation attached to it becomes pure joy and appreciation.

For those with sugar cravings, the Agrimony flower can help balance this emotional dysfunction.
Vervain can also be useful for a person who handles situations with stress and tension, thereby using sugars or carbohydrates as a calming device.

Hi Linda,
A co-incidence learning that you are a kinesiologist. I went rummaging through my bookshelf for my Touch for Health green book and my PKP1 text, looking for the emotional relationship to the pancreas. Couldn't find it, so I googled and found your site, Other sites claim that 'worry' is also an important factor.

All the best
Elizabeth :)

Dear Elizabeth

Thank you for your insight. It is time for me to update these pages! As the pancreas is connected to the third chakra and the third chakra is our fear center and bring the energy back to the self, the pancreas is connected to disappointment with my choices, with fear or concern for how they affect others. Hence, I agree that worry may be a factor here.

Thanks for your note!

Hi Linda,

How long does it take for the body to feel better and take advantage of the new diet?

As per my Osteopath, I eliminated ALL sugars from my diet on December 5th (almost 3 months) and have been eating incredibly healthy since. All healthy foods such as LOTS of veggies, healthy proteins and fibers. My Osteopath has said that he has never seen anyone in his 20 year career follow his diet so well. I still have pretty strong cravings for sugar and carbs and my energy level is still not great. Better for sure but still not great.

Any idea? or tips?

Thanks.

Pascal

Hi P David: Healing takes time, energy and patience. Changing one's diet to include healthy food is a first step. Healing emotions is also essential to healing the physical body as this energy will get stuck and create physical symptoms. There are vibrational medicines that may help us see some of our emotional imbalances. You can read about the exhaustion flower essences here: http://healingyou101-emotions.blogspot.com/2008/12/exhaustion-flowers.html A lot is dependent upon what is causing the exhaustion. A high potency B-complex can help along with energy herbs such as ginseng.. each time you take a step to honor and nurture your physical body, healing takes a step with you.

WOW! Linda, you hit the nail right on the head with that one! That was my intuition as well, surroundig the 3rd Chakra...wanting to control other's choices. Time to let go and simply be in control of MY choices! Thank you for the affirmation!

I am fairly certain my pancreas is compromised. My body was "screaming" at me in all kinds of ways and I put an immediate halt to all dairy, caffeine, sugar, white flour, meat, and night shade vegetables. Its been a little over 3 weeks of eating this way. Today - foul smelling yellow stools and a headache.
As I read your posts - I realize for me, probably the more challenging work is to deal with my emotions and the piles of disappointments I have laid at my feet. While one can say, it is what it is, deep inside I have huge remorse and regret. Meditation and prayer right now are really from an act as if place. All I can think to do is eft and affirmations. Not sure - but I must MUST work on acceptance of what is.
Thank you so much for your posts.

Dear Wellness Diva: As you come face to face with these old energies, they will detox through the system and often times they are not pretty. They are not pretty in; neither are they pretty out! Allow them to move through you and loving that they are leaving helps greatly. Also, as you recognize your old disappointments and regrets, remember to forgive yourself for the past and then remember that it is in your power to create joy and happiness in your present. Allow yourself to do just that. What does make you happy right here and now? Then go do it for you. This will inspire every cell in your body to know that you mean what you are saying.. it is time for change!

Flower essences and other vibrational medicines can help you heal this as well...

Hi David- I would highly recommend taking pancreatic enzymes. Allerase is changing my life!! :)

Could I just warn people AWAY from nuts and seeds to heal the pancreas. I was relying on nuts and seeds as my main form of protein, they contain enzyme inhibitors and I am sure that they contributed to my acute pancreatitis.

Soak almonds and cashews to reduce/eliminate those enzyme inhibitors. I learned that when researching how to make almond milk. Be sure to rinse well before eating them. I read to add a little lemon juice and sea salt while soaking. I'm no expert so you may need to check that out.

Good morning to you Ms. Linda. And thanks a lot for invaluable information posted here.

I'm in the midst of a heated debate within the family about using long term pharmaceutical drugs for the condition called as hypertension, diabetes, thyroid imbalance ((based on high readings from lab tests), I have some apprehension that we are being misled (knowingly or unknowingly by the medical doctors) to take those drugs rather than exploring other measures to bring good health.

I was also looking at the blog to see if you have explained about the thyroid gland functioning, about hypertension, about diabetes, about epilepsy, etc.

Looking forward to reading more from your website and links on your facebook.
Thanks.

Good morning Brian:

Thank you for your kind comments. Healing is such a personal and intimate choice, To heal, we must love our choices. Some people are very fearful of taking responsibility for their own healing. That has never been one of my issues. The one thing I am sure about is that I AM RESPONSIBLE for what goes on in my body. And if I am responsible for creating it, am I not also responsible to heal it?

My personal opinion is that our bodies are a tool to let us know we have lost our way from our true self. Healing is about finding the way that brings us back to who we came to be... we we really are... and love is what will help us heal. Many of us have forgotten that simple fact.. many of us have forgotten what love really is.. Maybe the physical body is trying to teach us again! :)

Chia seeds have helped my sugar cravings a ton!! I soak them for a half hour and drink. Some prefer to put it in a drink. 2 tsp with 8oz of water twice a day.
